Geekvape Aegis Legend, which generation suits you
Search for a Geekvape Aegis Legend and three different mods share the results, the L200, the Legend 3 and the Legend 5. Same name, same 200 W ceiling, same promise of a sealed body. Their design choices still suit different vapers, and product listings describe each model on its own, never side by side. Five criteria are enough to tell them apart, the lock, the coil range the mod accepts, the modes, the screen and the tank in the kit.
Which Geekvape Aegis Legend suits your profile
The Geekvape Aegis Legend to pick depends on how you set up your kit. If you want the latest generation, a physical lock and visual and haptic feedback, take the Legend 5. If you fit coils above 2 ohms or want the widest choice of modes, the L200 remains the most open of the three. The Legend 3 mainly makes sense if its touch lock, which frees the mod as soon as your hand closes around it, matches the way you handle a device.
| Generation | Lock | Screen | Modes | Coil range accepted by the mod | Tank in the kit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| L200 (Legend 2) | A-Lock, physical switch | 1.08 inch, colour | 7 | 0.1 to 3 ohms | Z Sub-Ohm 2021 |
| Legend 3 | Smart Lock, touch lock | 0.96 inch | 7 | Check the manual | Z Fli |
| Legend 5 | A-Lock, physical switch | 1.08 inch, colour, light strips | 5 | 0.1 to 2 ohms | Z Sub-Ohm 2021 or Z Sub-Ohm 5, depending on the bundle |
These figures come from Geekvape’s spec sheets and from the comparison of its three Legend mods that the brand published on its official store in June 2025.
What every Geekvape Aegis Legend has in common
Before looking at what separates them, it helps to know what stays the same. All three mods deliver up to 200 W and run on two 18650 cells, sold separately. On the L200 and the Legend 5 alike, the two cells work in series, for 7.4 V, with a maximum output current of 45 A and output voltage capped at 12 V.
Protection remains the hallmark of the line. All three generations are rated IP68 against water, dust and knocks. Geekvape even presents the L200 as the second generation of its tri-proof design, moving from IP67 to IP68. All of them also take Geekvape’s Z series coils.
That shared base explains why shops describe every Geekvape Aegis Legend in the same words. If you are still weighing a Legend against a simpler Aegis mod, our guide to the Geekvape Aegis range by profile compares the current line-up, from the Mini 5 to the Solo 5.
The differences that set each Aegis Legend generation apart
The five criteria set out above are what really separate the L200, the Legend 3 and the Legend 5. None of them touches output power, and all of them change how the mod is handled or what it will agree to fire.
The lock, physical or touch
The L200 and the Legend 5 carry the A-Lock, a switch you flip yourself to block firing. Geekvape presents it as protection against accidental presses, handy when the mod travels in a bag.
The Legend 3 went another way. Its touch lock, which Geekvape calls Smart Lock, unlocks the mod when your hand grips it and locks it again when you put it down, according to matching listings from two retailers. The system removes one step, but it also removes the direct control a switch gives you. The Legend 5 went back to the A-Lock.
The coil range the mod accepts
This is the least visible difference and the most practical one. The L200 accepts coils from 0.1 to 3 ohms. The Legend 5 stops at 0.1 to 2 ohms, even though Geekvape lists Z coils up to 3 ohms on the same spec sheet.
A 2.5 ohm coil, for instance, fits the L200 but falls outside the range the Legend 5 is designed for. If you sometimes vape on higher resistances, check this point before anything else.
Modes, screen and feedback
The newest generation is not the one with the most modes. Geekvape lists seven on the L200 and the Legend 3 and five on the Legend 5, namely ECO, SMART, NORMAL, CUSTOM and TC.
In return, the Legend 5 adds vibration, a smart battery charging system and customisable light strips, with a 1.08 inch colour screen, the same size as the L200’s. The Legend 3 makes do with a 0.96 inch screen. It does share the AS 4.0 chipset with the Legend 5, as stated by Geekvape for the Legend 5 and by two retailers for the Legend 3.
The tank supplied in the kit
Each generation comes as a kit with a different tank. The L200 ships with the Z Sub-Ohm 2021, a pre-fitted 0.2 ohm coil rated for 70 to 80 W and a spare 0.25 ohm coil rated for 45 to 57 W. For the Legend 3, the kit pairs the Z Fli with 0.15 and 0.4 ohm Z coils. The Legend 5 offers, depending on the bundle, the Z Sub-Ohm 2021 or the Z Sub-Ohm Tank 5, with a Z0.15 XM coil for 70 to 85 W and a Z0.4 XM for 50 to 60 W.
Refillable tanks sold in the UK are capped at 2 ml, against 5 to 5.5 ml for the standard glasses, and Geekvape lists 2 ml TPD versions for the L200 and the Legend 5 glass. Check that the kit you buy is one of them. Nicotine e-liquid is capped at 20 mg/ml and sold in 10 ml bottles.
Which profile for which Geekvape Aegis Legend
The criteria above translate into three fairly clear profiles. None is better in absolute terms, each one matches a way of setting up and carrying a mod.
The Legend 5, for a physical lock and on-device feedback
It suits the vaper who wants the current generation, with a locking switch, vibration and lighting that report on the state of the mod. It works for you as long as you stay under 2 ohms, which covers both coils supplied in the kit.
The L200, for a wide mix of coils
Geekvape itself describes it as a time-tested model without the bells and whistles. Its 0.1 to 3 ohm range and its seven modes make it the most permissive of the three, for the vaper who swaps coils often or keeps a few higher-resistance ones. Its USB-C port sits behind a flip cover.
The Legend 3, for an automatic lock
It is aimed at the vaper who forgets to lock the mod and would rather have a system that does it for them. The smaller screen and the lack of a physical switch make it a matter of preference rather than a halfway house between the other two. If you are comparing dual-cell mods more widely, our piece on box mod tiers by profile offers further pointers.
Geekvape figures worth cross-checking before you buy
Geekvape’s published dimensions vary from one page to the next. The L200 measures 140.05 x 54.12 x 29 mm on its spec sheet and 145 x 28 x 54.8 mm in the comparison table. The Legend 5 goes from 146 to 142 mm tall depending on the page. If the mod has to fit a specific case or pocket, measure it rather than trusting a single source.
Outdoor use calls for the same care. The L200 is presented as working from −20 to 50 °C in the text of its page, while its spec table sets a range of 0 to 45 °C, the same as the Legend 5. It is the table value, repeated in the manual, that describes the conditions the maker intended.
FAQ
Five questions vapers ask about these mods, beyond the choice of generation.
How should you set up an Aegis Legend the first time?
Start at the bottom of the wattage range shown on the coil or its packaging, then raise it a few watts at a time. On the Legend 5, SMART is one of the five modes on the spec sheet and makes a sensible starting point before you switch to manual settings.
Which e-liquid suits an Aegis Legend?
The supplied tanks are built for direct to lung vaping, and Geekvape pairs its Z mesh coils with high-VG liquids. Thick high-VG liquids take a moment to soak a fresh coil, so let a new coil sit for a few minutes after filling before you fire it.
How do you charge an Aegis Legend?
Through the mod’s USB-C port, which the L200 and Legend 5 spec sheets both list. An external charger remains a good option, since it charges each cell separately. Always use two identical cells of the same age and charge level, because they work in series.
How do you change the colour of an Aegis Legend?
The colour of the body is chosen when you buy, from 12 colourways for the L200, 10 plus a Racing edition for the Legend 3, and 6 plus two Racing editions for the Legend 5. Only the Legend 5 also has customisable light strips.
Which tank can you fit on an Aegis Legend?
Any 510 tank whose coil falls within the mod’s range. On the Legend 3, two retailers list a plate that takes a 24 mm tank without overhang.
Geekvape Aegis Legend, choose the generation by how you vape
The L200, the Legend 3 and the Legend 5 share their power, their dual cells and their IP68 rating. What separates them is the lock, the coil range, the number of modes and the feedback, points that product listings never set side by side.
A Geekvape Aegis Legend is therefore chosen on the way you set up and carry your mod, then on the tank version. The same method holds for any kit, whether you are after a dual-cell box mod or a first pod.
